Took on a nutrition and strength training program starting May 28th, 2018 (left photo) with the end date being September 14th (right photo). Lost an overall 8lbs, 6.5 of which was body fat. 41 years old with kids and a full time job in tech. What a transformation!

Took on my own nutrition and strength training program to lead by example after the hectic start to starting and running a business. Started at 177lbs and ended at 156lbs in 18 weeks! I haven't been this light since high school. I achieved it applying only what I have learned and have been teaching my clients since I started the business. Use scientific principles to build a method that works with respect to your lifestyle, habits, and preferences.

I’ve been training with Steve and his team at Anchored Strength & Conditioning for nearly a year now, and I could not be more proud of how much progress I’ve made as an athlete and how satisfied I was with their training. Running through Steve’s gauntlet of performance programming, I regularly did conditioning, gymnastics, power and olympic lifting, and even prehab/rehab exercises. I made steady progress from his guidance, and attended classes four to five times a week. Personal records were broken, and I learned as much as I could.
Steve and his team of coaches differentiate themselves from other fitness providers by their consistent, thoughtful programming. Their programming aims for health, performance, and consistent results. During my training, Steve knew better than I did how much I can squat or deadlift. He always made sure to include accessory movements and variations in order to make sure I never plateaued or got injured. For our group classes, he also made himself available if anyone ever had questions about a movement or required assistance. Although the training was rigorous, the team at Anchored was well suited at helping me improve steadily on both familiar and new exercises.
Although working out can be difficult when you’re tired or sore, the comradery and friendship with Steve and his coaches makes the experience enjoyable. The coaches at Anchored always cared about the athletes they trained, and they happily invested their time and energy towards helping us in our fitness goals.

When I first stepped into Anchored, I was cynical. I wasn't sure if it was for me. I didn't want it to be another crossfit gym because that wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted to be strong and fit but was scared to look bulky (if only it were that easy) because I was fixated on being skinny. I was hesitant because I wasn't sure if the gym would live up to its mission statement. However, after the first introduction and trial class, I knew this was for me. Steve is an excellent coach. He tailors the workouts for each individual, depending on their goals. If I had any questions, he would take the time to answer my questions. Whether it's about exercise or dieting, he is always ready to help. I came in with very little knowledge of lifting. Steve guided me through the exercises, explaining and educating me on different movements in depth. Along the way, I've had the pleasure of working with different coaches, receiving feedback, helping me with mobility and muscle activation exercises to improve my lifts and be injury free. I've also met wonderful members who have encouraged me to continue to progress.
All I did before was cardio, actually, a lot of it but I was still skinny fat. I was slim but had flubber in areas that I wished would go away. No matter how much cardio I did, I just couldn't achieve the tight and tone look. I came to Anchored for aesthetic reasons. However, it's no longer about that. Fitness and lifting have become a lifestyle, a part of me.
I came to the gym at 100lbs with very little knowledge of weight training. I could barely back squat an empty barbell. Now, at 105lbs, I can backsquat 170lbs, deadlift 240lbs, rep out pull ups and dips. I was never able to do any of that before but now I can, plus more. I am embracing the strength I never knew I had in me. Not only am I embracing my strength but also my body. Body image is a sensitive topic but I'm happier now than I was back in my cardio days. I stopped worrying about my weight, stopped obsessing over the numbers on the scale and I don't crucify myself up if I indulge in delicious food.
I look forward to coming to the gym and working out. I don't have to think about it, it's become that integrated in my life. :)

When a co-worker introduced me to Steve’s strength and conditioning program, I was skeptical that it was just another Cross fit gym among the many throughout Silicon Valley. In fact, I have tried a variety of training programs (i.e. conventional weight training, Cross fit, etc.), and I have always hit a plateau shortly after starting and saw little, if any, improvements.
But when I spoke with Steve regarding my fitness goals, I was immediately drawn to his knowledge and expertise in accessing his clients. Steve does a great job communicating how proper training, nutrition, and sleep all play a vital role in the body's development. He also tailors his programs to fit the needs of the individuals, rather than thinking everyone is created equal.
Needless to say since joining Anchored, Steve has opened my eyes to a whole new world of fitness. He stresses body mechanics and technique over heavy lifting and has helped me understand how my body responds to the different exercises. Because of this, I have made incredible gains and overall improvements in my core strength. Something I have always struggled with my entire life.
Steve is a natural motivator when it comes to fitness and it is an honor to call him my coach. He makes training fun and, because he has the ability to communicate, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and know I can achieve an endless amount of fitness goals. I definitely recommend joining Steve's strength and conditioning program!!

I’d like to take this opportunity to speak about and say thank you to Mr. Steve Kpa. Approximately a year ago I became involved in an incident while at work where I tore both of my Achilles tendons completely in half. Besides having an amazing physical therapist I felt I still needed additional strength and conditioning. I contacted Steve and explained to him what had occurred and what my time frame was for returning back to work. Steve was completely “onboard” with the challenge. Steve has a complete understanding of body mechanics, movement, strength and conditioning, and nutrition. Besides the strength and conditioning aspect of Steve’s knowledge base he is extremely well versed in the area of physical therapy and rehabilitative training needs. He personally tailors his sessions to the individuals and their needs. I can say with 100% certainty that you will get your money’s worth. Simply outstanding!
Thanks for everything, Steve.

When I first started with Steve my main goal was to achieve a lifestyle where I no longer felt guilty for every bit of food that I put in my mouth. I worked so hard in the gym and I wanted to shed some weight and it just wasn’t happening for me. As a woman, we are lead to believe many misconceptions of what is considered “good food” and “bad food.” I wanted someone that could help cut through all the crap, fads and articles and help me make simple, educated decisions about food. I started to get to a point where I didn’t know what to believe anymore. Steve helped me to question and make good choices based solely on scientific facts. Once I learned the basics, the answers were simple. I learned the importance of macronutrients and that depriving your body in major ways, as with carbs, was not the answer to long term gains. I found that the more I ate and found a balance with macronutrients, I actually lost weight and inches. I was giving my body the things that it naturally needed to be healthy.
Immediately I was logging, weighing all my food and checking in with Steve daily via text and email. Let me be honest, the entire process takes time and patience. This is not something that will changeyou in a couple of weeks. The key wastaking the time and effort to understand and want to change. You need to be 100% committed to the process and accurate in everything that you do. I truly believe his personal attention to everyday of my process is what helped me to be successful. It held me accountable, he listened when I started to question myself,he made me feel encouraged, and he was there to tweak the program when needed. I love how passionate Steve is, not just about what he teaches, but about the people he coaches. He inspired me.I learned how to eat to no longer feel guilty and gain weight. Hehas changed my perspective of food and my life forever. For that I am forever grateful.
Learning how to eat right was the biggest piece of the puzzle for me. Sleep and a proper exercise plan also contribute to the process, but neither of these two parts were much of an issue for me. I realized how much diet affected my overall outcome and happiness. After 3 months of working with Steve, I lost 15lbs and 3 pant sizes. I was blown away with how much I had changed in only a few months. His process is now a lifestyle change and a commitment I have made to myself. Once I understood the process, Ino longer worried about every ounce I consumed. I have learned my balance and what works for me.
I am so proud and thankful to call Steve my friend and someone who inspires me. Thanks Steve for all your guidance, knowledge, patience, and friendship.

I have spent years experimenting with different diets and spent hours in the gym but was never quite able to achieve my fitness goals. After just six months with Steve I am in the best shape ever. The greatest part is I spend less time working out and never worry about my diet. Steve makes working out fun and he has helped me literally build a strong foundation so I can do Olympic lifts I never thought possible. Overall, I feel better and have more energy. Working with Steve isn’t easy but it is well worth the effort!

Steve’s understanding of nutrition and the imperative role it has in achieving fitness goals is remarkable, more so is the way in which he communicates this to his clients, so that we don’t have to spend countless hours trying to decipher all the information we may come across; not to mention programming and focusing on a well rounded fitness program with skill work, mobility, and gymnastics, not just lifting the heaviest weight possible with bad form. Its also really rad you can text him at any time whether to eat the cookie or not or about a workout.

Steve is one of the best decisions I have made for my athletic success. I first came to him with one goal in mind – to nail a muscle up. Steve was able to properly gauge where I was in my athletic capabilities and knew exactly what I needed to do in order to achieve my goal. He knows precisely what to say and when to say it and emphasizes technique and form. Under Steve’s coaching I was able to attain my goal and what was once a movement that I was terrified by is now something that I look forward to doing. However, Steve did more for me than I expected. He cares about his athletes and throughout the week he made sure to check in with me from time to time to see how my body was feeling and reacting to our training. He looked at my diet and mobility and set me on a path that better fit my overall fitness objectives. He emphasizes form over volume and has taught me a lot about efficient movements and gives me sound advice on how to be an intelligent athlete. The unique thing about Steve is that he teaches and encourages not just hard work but SMART work and this is what separates him from most of the fitness coaches out there. He doesn’t want to just see me strong, he wants me to be able to do everything with accuracy, precision, and aptitude. Anyone can come into a gym and work hard but not everybody can do it smartly. This is what Steve can help you achieve - a true meeting of mind and body. I consider it a privilege to call him my coach and I look forward to seeing my athletic career further mature under his guidance.
